  1. Historical Situation: After the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 A. D. Europe broke apart into many competing groups. The barbarian tribes that had invaded Rome were not united so they each formed their own country. These countries and groups competed for control of Europe for hundreds of years in a period called The Middle Ages. One of the few things linking these groups was their language and religion. Most continued to follow the Roman Christian Church and Latin remained the language of most groups. Your task: Today you will complete four tasks in order to help you create a new kingdom. As you finish them bring them to Mrs. Rand to get your next one. Task 1 is shown below. Review the map below (or look at the screen). Choose kingdom the that you think would be best to live in. Consider the size, how close it to is water, what might have been built there already and what natural resources are nearby.
