  1. Experiment Title…… • Experimental Staff & Affiliation: • Principal Investigator (PI) • Co-PI • Post Doc • Graduate Students • Undergraduate Students • Run Date: mm/dd/yyyy - mm/dd/yyyy • Travel logistics: • Arrival day/time for all staff • Duration of stay for each staff • Hotel information • Contact information while in Austin

  2. Experimental Objectives List and explain in detail the scientific objectives of the experimental run

  3. Experimental Concept Explain in detail the concept for achieving the experimental objectives

  4. Experimental Concept Figure • Update the experimental concept as necessary • For example:

  5. F/3 Detailed experimental diagram and setup • If your experiment uses the F/3 chamber, show a drawing of the target chamber with your overall layout using the drawing below. Include all measurement instruments (inside or outside chamber) to scale. • NOTE: The following TPW Chamber drawing formats are available upon request: • eDrawing, 3D PDF, SolidWorks, ProE, Inventor, Inventor • .prt, .its, .stp, .sat, .stl, .dxf, jpeg, pdf, psd, tiff, bmp

  6. F/40 Detailed experimental diagram and setup • If your experiment uses the F/40 chamber, show a drawing of the target chamber with your overall layout using the drawing below. Include all measurement instruments (inside or outside chamber) to scale. • NOTE: The following TPW Chamber drawing formats are available upon request: • eDrawing, 3D PDF, SolidWorks, ProE, Inventor, Inventor • .prt, .its, .stp, .sat, .stl, .dxf, jpeg, pdf, psd, tiff, bmp

  7. Equipment & resource lists • Complete the following table of experimental diagnostics • Include delivery dates of all hardware being shipped to TPW. • Update list of equipment supplied by TPW that the experiment requires. • Use additional pages as needed

  8. Target alignment • Provide a sketch or photograph of your mounted targets • Explain how the target will be aligned to the laser, note in particular: • • Tolerances up/down and left/right (size of target region) • • Tolerance and preferred position in the laser propagation direction (z) • • Fiducial points on the target to aid with target positioning, their dimensions and locations relative to the main target, and how they are intended to be used • • Constraints imposed by alignment to an experimental instrument • • Features on the front side of the target that may obstruct the clear view of the laser focus on the target surface, such as an indentation or built-in shielding. Give the dimensions of each such feature.

  9. Experimental plan & shot requests • List all measurements required to achieve experimental objectives. • Include equipment required to make those measurements • Describe in detail your shot procedure: (example) • vent chamber (6 minutes) • install target (5 minutes) • switch out film in electron spectrometers (5 minutes) • Pump down (30 minutes) • Align single target to best focus (10 minutes) • Shoot a single target

  10. Experimental plan & shot requests • Describe daily shot plan assume 4-5 shots per day in the f/3 chamber • and 5-6 shots/day in the f/40 chamber: • Number and type of shots and target configuration anticipated on each day Use additional pages as necessary

  11. Experimental plan & shot requests (continued) • Describe experimental direction. As far as you can anticipate, how will your shot plan change depending on what you see? How critical are specific pulse parameters, and how will you adapt the experiment if laser parameters are not exactly as requested ?

  12. Safety Training Matrix • Fill out the training matrix below:
