The "First Comes Love" program guides pregnant and parenting teens toward building healthy relationships, focusing on marriage education and parenting skills. Many young couples experience a moment of considering marriage around their child's birth, yet lack community support. Our program equips them with essential tools for love and partnership, emphasizing communication, conflict management, and commitment. Weekend retreats offer 10 hours of engaging education with fun activities, advocating for a two-parent family for better outcomes for children. Join us in fostering stronger families and communities.

FIRST COMES LOVE • A Marriage Education Program • for • Pregnant and Parenting Teens
The Facts • Many teen couples experience a “magic moment” when they consider marriage near or after the birth of their child. • There are few services, if any, in their communities to help them reach that goal. • Without guidance and support, most break up and look for love elsewhere
Our Premise • These teens are going to be with someone. • Why not help them be Better Together with their child’s parent so more children grow up with the gift of a two parent family? • If they decide not to be romantically involved they will learn skills to be Better Together as parents.
Making Love Last • It’s hard enough for adults with education and income to make love last. • Imagine trying to do this at 16, with a baby and living at home with parents. • Imagine trying to do this in a community where marriage generally fails to happen and even if it does happen most of those marriages are also likely to fail.
First Comes Love • Weekend retreats • 10 hours of education • Games, exercises, fun • We use hip hop music • Facts of life
Why Marriage? • Best environment for kids • Better health • Live longer • More income • Better outcomes for children • Good for men and women • Child abuse less likely to happen
Communication Counts • Learn new skills • Practice them • Power of communication • Use for good not bad • More loving behaviors
Conflict Management • Yes, we can!!! • Stop the yelling • Stop the cursing • Listen to your partner • Smile
I’m a movement by myself but I’m a force when we’re together. Mami, I’m good all by myself but baby you, you make me better. Fabulous
