  2. Birth/Death • She was born on November 8th, 1927 • She is still alive today and she is 84 years old. • Clara Ann Fowler or Patti Page was born and grew up in Claremore, Oklahoma

  3. Career • First Patti sang on a 15 minute radio show that was sponsored by the page milk company. That’s how she got her nickname. Then she was offered a part in a band called the “Jimmy Joy Band” in 1946. While touring with them she got a contract with Mercury Records and left the band in 1947.

  4. Style of music • Patti sang pop and used her voice only. She also added jazz and country in her songs.

  5. Important recordings • Patti was most famous for her songs Tennessee Waltz, Confess, Mockin Bird Hill, Mister and Mississippi, and Detour. • She also starred on shows like The Dean Martin Show,The Ed Sullivan Show, and The Steve Allen Show.

  6. Life story • Clara was born and grew up in Claremore, Oklahoma. She was born into a poor and large family. Her mother and her sisters picked cotton while her father worked on the MKT railroad. She graduated from Daniel Webster high school in 1945.

  8. This time in history • In 1945 the second World War was going on. • In 1946 a tsunami hit Hawaii. • In 1947 the Great Depression happened and there was a hurricane in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

  9. After her career • In 2003 Clara decided to retire. She would still put on shows for charity benefits but her time in music was over.

  10. Extra • Clara was married twice and adopted two children. • What had become of her first husband is unknown and her second husband is dead proving that girls always live longer.
