  1. The Snowman Raymond Briggs

  2. On a cold February morning, Brian awoke to the sound of a snow plow, scraping the road outside of his country home. In a flash, he jumped to the window and drew back the drapes. “I’ve got to hurry and dress,” he cried, “it’s snowing out today!”

  3. “Look, Mom, look,” he shouted. “Can I go out to play?” “Sure, Brian,” said his mother. “Don’t forget your boots and hat!”

  4. Brian ran to his backyard and began rolling snow into a ball. Bigger and bigger it grew, until Brian could hardly reach the top.

  5. “Brian, come inside and have some hot tea and a snack,” he heard his mother call from inside the house. In a flash Brian was back outside, determined to complete his masterpiece in the snow.

  6. Brian was determined to make the best snowman ever. He raced back into the house for the final touches - a hat and scarf, and some extras to make him complete.

  7. A warm gingerbread cookie would serve as a nose, and some coal from the outdoor storage bin would make him complete.
