  1. RIMS QUICK START I’ve added four new slides of tips, hints and reminders here at the beginning of the regular Power Point. These can help you get started quickly when you don’t have time to view the entire presentation. This and more in-depth information can be found further into the slide show.

  2. Log-in Reminders: • Your login is CASE sensitive • Password will ALWAYS be lower case • Enter required fields of the profile first entry; successive entries submit and move past. • Proper name ID’s – must match entry in the profile. (primarily CalEMA staff) • Security question field – not used but required by system. • Must allow Pop-Ups’ on this site.

  3. SELECT Mission Request Tasking: • Called ‘CUSTOM FORM’ in this system. • Located last (very bottom) of drop-down list. • Use Active Custom View for OPEN missions. • Create, select/highlight Mission Request Tasking and blank form will open in same window. • Status, Operation Area, Requestor Contact Info, Requested Mission, SUBMIT! Only 4 required fields. • Heads up call to CalEMA Region.

Situation Reports: • Called Jurisdiction SitRep – cities, OA’s, CalEMA • Two required fields – Jurisdiction and Overall Status • Also enter County, Related Event and a thorough overview in the Initial Summary • Submit your document • Update to add or change data • Submit to save any additions or changes

  7. What Is RIMS? • Response Information Management System • An electronic version of the standards and protocols in SEMS • Cities, Special Districts • Operational Areas, • Cal EMA Regions • State Operations Center • Federal Agencies at State Level • Commercial Partners

To Access RIMS • Internet Service Provider • A Web Browser: Internet Explorer • ID and Password, issued by Cal EMA • Available to all cities, special districts, operational Areas, state, and federal agencies within California that have emergency response functions. • Note: Operational Areas have the authority to review and approve, or disapprove, the applications from entities within their geographical area.

  30. RIMS ID & Password log in - but REMEMBER its CASE sensitive now. Use Proper Case.

  31. Don’t forget Operations is only for real world Incidents/Events! Please choose TRAINING for any practice, exercises or demos.

  32. Personal Profile 5 required fields, but now one more requirement; Please click the Account Info tab

  33. Required: Select and answer a security question. However this feature is not operational. PLEASE do NOT change your password. There is NO retrieval capability.

  34. You must ALLOW Pop-ups in RIMS!

  35. Choose which report you want to Create or View

  36. If you have the role/authority to Create a report the ‘Create’ button will be visible when you choose that report.

  37. Choose how you want to ‘Lay-out’, Sort or View those Reports

  38. Un-submitted: No buttons to attach. REMEMBER: Attachments can ONLY be added once the form has been SUBMITTED and is in READ mode. Submitted, in read mode: Buttons to attach.

  39. Mission Request Tasking (MRT’s) are now found under Custom Form and have very limited choices to sort or view.

  40. Click to select Mission Request Tasking The form opens automatically. Remember to let it fully load before entering information.

  41. NO SPECIAL CHARACTERS! IE: & $ # % Will BLANK OUT the entire form!

  42. RIMS Today • Over 3400 internal and external clients access RIMS via the Internet. • RIMS can also be accessed through Operational Area Satellite Information System (OASIS).
