  5. Motif or symbol • Symbol: the red hat - describes an understanding of the hunt into being a child then to becoming an adult - gives it to Pheobe • Symbol: baseball glove - reminds Holden of Allie

  6. Holden’s transformation • F-u written on school wall • Upset little kids see it • Thinks their to young • Tries to scratch it off
