Screen Printing - Its Process And Advantages

Screen printing is a traditional method in which the ink is directly applied on the surface of the fabric. The image is photographically transferred on the surface of the fabric such that non-printing areas are blocked off & the fabric serves as a stencil. <br>https://www.dadsprinting.com/

  1. Screen Printing - Its Process And Advantages In the earlier days, the silk was used as a screen. Due to this reason, a term "silk screen" came into existence. After some time, silk screen becomes popular with the term "Serigraphy". Later on, when polymer meshes were used a new term comes into existence which is known as "Screen Printing". Screen Printing is a great technique to print an image on the paper or the fabric. In this process, a screen, a stencil, and an ink is used.

  2. Images are printed on the surface of the fabric by pressing ink through a screen with areas blocked off by a stencil. The quality of art prints printed by this method is very high. It is best suited for the commercial applications like printing a company's logo or printing images on items and clothes. The screen which is used as a main component in this process are of two types: temporal and permanent. Temporal screens can last for a shorter time period. These screens are easy to prepare and doesn't require much money to set up. This type of screen is best suited for printing limited prints on the clothes and other items. paper stencil and candle wax screen are the best examples of the temporal screens.

  3. The other type of screen i.e., permanent screen can last for a longer time and if it is cared properly then it can last forever. They are used in case where there are multiple prints are needed. The money used for this screen is more as compared to the temporal screen. Photographic, lacquer and shellac screens are the best examples of the permanent screens. Screen Printing Process Screen printing is the most versatile printing process among all of the other processes.

  4. The process of screen printing is very crucial as there are many complicated steps are involved in this process. The screen printing process are explained below: The first step in this process is to place a screen on the top of the substrate. Substrate can be anything like clothes, fabrics, mugs, paper and so on. After that, on the top of screen, ink is placed and fill the mesh box openings with it properly.

  5. Once the openings are filled completely, the operator begin to life the screen in order to make sure that the screen doesn't have any contact with the substrate. A squeegee is used to move down the mesh to the substrate. After that it will pushed to the rear of the screen. The result of this is that the ink is placed upon the surface of the substrate. Screen printing method is best suited for a single color per printing. This is because only one color can be poured in the mesh box.

  6. If you want to use multiple colors, then the process has to be repeated for each color. In this method, it is not possible to merge one shade into another. Advantages Of Screen Printing 1) Screen printing is the best technique for designing t-shirts with large areas of block color. No other printing method can do this task as effectively as screen printing Vancouver can do. 2) With this method, more brighter colors can be printed.

  7. 3) It is the most cost-effective method as compared to the other methods. 4) It is considered to be the most flexible printing technology. There are no limitations on the thickness and nature of the material on which the printing will be carried out. 5) It is a very basic process as the tools are not much hard to replace and it won’t become obsolete as fast as other technologies.
