  3. Classroom Information School starts promptly at 8:25am Mon/Tues AND collaboration days dismissal is at 2:00pm. Thur/Fri AND non-collaboration days dismissal is at 3:00pm First Grade Daily Schedule Morning Recess 9:40 – 9:55 Lunch/Recess 11:30 - 12:10 PE/Music/Library/Computer days and times vary by class **Extra PE** First Grade Website

  4. Birthdays Birthdays are important milestones for children and many families choose to celebrate their child’s birthday at school. In an effort to promote reading, celebrate birthdays, and taking allergies into consideration, we ask that a book be donated to the classroom and/or students may bring individual non-food goodie bags for the entire class. Bag Ideas: pencils, erasers, stickers, bookmarks, trinkets

  5. Field Trips Field trips are fun and educational. For the safety of your student, Dublin Unified has the following field trip policies: All students must turn in a signed permission slip. All field trips will be onsite, walking, or on school bus. All parent chaperones must be cleared volunteers.

  6. Chaperoning Field Trips Guidelines: Volunteer Clearance form on file in the office form drivers license copy Cleared at least 48 hrs in advance NO SIBLINGS are allowed on field trips No purchases for students while on the trip

  7. Classroom Volunteers *Approved clearance form on file in the office *Copy of your driver’s license A clearance form and driver’s license copy is required each year regardless of clearances from previous years.

  8. Grading Policy Graded on a 4 point system for report cards 4 - above grade level 3 - proficient 2 - approaching grade level 1 - below grade level Classwork is graded differently Please review teacher notes and circled items on classwork.

  9. Progress Reports *Notification of student progress will be sent home 3 times a year if needed. *Sign the area required and return the bottom section to your teacher.

  10. Report Cards *Sent home 3 times a year at the end of each trimester. *Sent in an envelope *Return the signed envelope Trimester 1: November Trimester 2: March Trimester 3: June (last day of school)

  11. Conferences Parents and teachers make up a team who must work together for the good of the children. Please feel free to contact me via e-mail at any time with comments, concerns, and questions that you may have throughout the year. Formal conferences will be offered in November. At this time parents will have a chance to meet with the teacher to discuss your child’s progress. You will be contacted via email on signupgenius.com to select your conference date soon.

  12. Amador Norms Be respectful. Be responsible. Be ready to learn. Throughout the year, teachers will be modeling and discussing what this looks like in our school community. Students will also be participating in Kimochis and character development assemblies throughout the school year to help learn conflict and social skills.

  13. Management Policy Class Dojo Clip Chart Individual Behavior Plan Weekly Notes *Simple, positive classroom management, and parental engagement focus. The goal is to instill positivity and self-managing tools to reinforce Amador’s School Norms: Respect, Responsibility, Ready to Learn.

  14. Nut and Peanut Allergies We must all work together to provide students with as safe a learning environment as possible. In order to make it safe for the student(s) to participate fully in all school activities, we request that you do not bring in any foods containing nut or peanut food products. This would include snacks, parties, special events, arts, crafts, and cooking projects.

  15. Snack Recess Optional healthy snacks: fruits, vegetables, crackers, cheese, yogurt, rice cakes, etc. *Small *No nuts, no candy *Items they are able to open themselves *Sport top or straw water bottle to stay hydrated -Pre-labeled (name) on the snack -Student will place the labeled snack in the “snack tub.” -Please remind your students to not eat their entire lunch at recess.

  16. Lunch Money Send a check to the office with: Student Name Teacher’s Name Room Number Amount Money can be added to your child’s account on the district website at myschoolbucks. Access is available on our First Grade Site. Lunch menu is available on the school website. Dublin Lunch Menu

  17. Scholastic Book Orders Scholastic books will be available online. Book orders will be submitted regularly (around the 10th of each month). Teacher activation code is located on individual teacher website.

  18. Arrival Please line up on your classroom number dot outside in a single file line. Please help promote autonomy within your child by allowing them to enter independently. Students are not allowed in the building prior to 8:25, except for rainy day mornings at 8:10.

  19. Dismissal Parents must wait outside the building to allow 4th grade to exit safely. Students that go to after school programs will be dismissed first. If you are picking up your child, please make a line at the student backpacks to pick up your child. Students will be individually excused once their guardian has made contact with the teacher. Make sure your teacher is informed of who will be picking up your child in the event that you can not be there (e-mail or note). If you are running late, please go to the office to pick up your child. Please model patience and understanding. We are preparing 25 students to leave the line in an orderly manner.

  20. Amador Folder The maroon folders is our communication tool between home and school. Please check this folder every day as it will contain important papers, announcements, returned work, etc. Please review through these papers with your child and discuss comments and/or corrections so that both you and your child understand what help is needed. **Students often forget to give their teacher notes. If there is a note please email us to inform us of the notice.

  21. Homework Weekly homework will consist of: (H.W. Newsletter Template) Math: Math games online (math ixl, sumdog, xtramath, etc.) Reading: Reading comprehension worksheet Writing: Each week students will be required to write a narrative, informational, or opinion story. Spelling: We will NOT give a set spelling list to practice at home. You will be given the weekly spelling and phonics focus to practice at home. Choose any of the spelling ideas to practice your words. These are for practice and are not required to be turned in. Spelling Sheet It is recommended that students should read for at least 20 minutes every night. Please spend time listening to your child read. Read to your child as well. You will be modeling good reading strategies such as fluency and expression.

  22. Star of the Week Each week a different student will be selected to be the “Star Student of the Week.” The student’s All About Me Poster will be displayed in the classroom. Poster directions will be sent home prior to him/her being the “Star Student of the Week.”
