  1. Think Tac Toe - Vocabulary Directions: Below are some really fun ways to practice and learn vocabulary. Every other week you will be given a unit of 10 new vocabulary words. For each unit you will complete the center square and then you will choose one additional activity to complete by the due date. You will then cross that activity off. The next two weeks you receive 10 more words and you will complete the center square and a different activity. Quizzes will be every other Wednesday. . Create a comic strip using the 10 words from the unit. The strip must include pictures and speech bubbles. Context must show you understand the meaning of the words. (Not graded on art skills.) Create a crossword puzzle using definitions, synonyms, or antonyms of the 10 words. Use graph paper to create the crossword, or you may use puzzlemaker.com Create a Word Map/Vocab Square for each of the 10 words. Using all 10 words, write a short story. Use context clues, or clues within the sentences, that show you understand the meaning of the vocabulary word. Create a foldable with each of the 10 words, the part of speech, the definition in your own words, a picture or example, and a sentence correctly using the word. Write a poem, song, or rap including the 10 words. Demonstrate your knowledge of the meaning of the words through your lyrics. Create flashcards for each of the 10 words with the word on one side and the definition and part of speech on the other side. Design a card game or board game that uses all 10 words, definitions, parts of speech, and correct spellings. Include directions for how to play. Complete a word pyramid for each of the 10 words.

  4. Comic Strip - Vocabulary Directions: Use the six squares below to create your vocabulary comic strip. You must use all ten vocabulary words from the unit. Include characters, backgrounds, and speech bubbles in your project. You may illustrate your strip in color or black and white. Have fun!

  6. Foldable Example • In this activity, students fold their papers into rows of 5 sections each. In the first section, the student writes the word. In the 2nd section, the student writes a definition of the word in their own words. In the 3rd section, the student writes the part of speech. In the 4th section, the student draws a picture or symbol to represent the word. In the 5th section, the student writes a sentence with the word used correctly. • After completing the page, the students can cut apart the sections and put them in an envelope.
