  2. Good Ideas • Review the lab procedure before you start, so you know what you’ll be doing. • Keep a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and eyewash kit nearby. • Use the safety equipment. Wear goggles and an apron during experiments. • Tie back loose hair and clothing when working in the lab.

Good Ideas • Always slant a test tube away from you when heating it. • Never inhale materials or chemicals. • Never eat in the lab! • Treat glass objects very care- fully. • Handle all equipment as if it were hot or dangerous. • If you spill anything on yourclothes or skin, wash it off with water immediately.

  4. Good Ideas • If anything gets in your eye, wash it with lots of water ASAP. • If your clothes catch on fire, DO NOT RUN. Stop, drop and roll. • Flush any burns with cold water- immediately. • Tell the teacher about any spills, accidents or injuries right away. • Return all items to their proper places and turn all devices off. • Do not wash any substances down the sink unless directed to do so.
