  10. While writing a Compare & Contrast essay, we will use “Poiny by Point Method”It means;

  11. Point - By - Point Method • Introduction • II. First point A. Explanation of how this point relates to the first item B. Explanation of how this point relates to the second item • III. Second point A. Explanation of how this point relates to the first item B. Explanation of how this point relates to the second item • IV. Third point A. Explanation of how this point relates to the first item B. Explanation of how this point relates to the second item • V. Conclusion

  12. IntroductionBegin with a broad, general statement of your topic and narrow it down to your thesis statement. Broad general statements ease the reader into your thesis statement by providing a background for it. Look at the following example!

  13. “Forwomenshopping can be a pleasantandfunexperience, especiallywhentheysee a sale on an itemthattheyhavewantedto buy. I think it is a littledifferentfor men becausesome men find it boring, andtheyhatetowalkthrough a crowdedmall. Femalesareveryindecisivewhen it comestoshoppingbecausetheycan'tmakeuptheirmindsaboutwhattheywanttoget. Malesknowwhattheywantandpickonlythatitemup. Ladies can takehoursgettingoneitemwhilemen can getfiveitems in 20 minutesorless. Womenspend a lot moremoneythan men whentheyshopbecausetheywanteverythingtheysee. Men andwomenaresodifferentwhenshopping is concerned.”

  14. BODY Thesis statements are extremely important because they will organize and outline the ideas for your BODY PARAGRAPHS. The three parallel structures will serve as the basis for your three paragraphs in the body. This way, the first item of the parallel structure will be the topic in the first paragraph, the second item will be the topic in the second paragraph, and the third item will be the topic in the third and the last paragraph of the body. In any given essay writing, once you write an effective thesis statement, the body of the paragraph will fall into place automatically... in the thesis statement you plan the order and sequence of your essay. For example,

  15. 1st BodyFirst of all, womenareindecisivewhileshopping, and men aren't. A women can gointo a storewitheveryintention on gettingoneitem, but sheseesallthecutethingslyingaroundthestoresaying "buy me." Forthatreason, shefeelscompelledto buy otheritemswithinthestore. That is why a woman can be veryindecisive. When a mansaysthat he is goingtogetonethingfromthestore, it's a guaranteethat he willcomehomewiththatoneitembecausethingsdon'tscreamout at him, "buy me".

  16. 2nd BodySecondly, a female can take a lot longer time toshopthan a maledoes. Forsomereasons, a lady has tolook at everythingwhichshefindsappealingtotheeye. I knowwhen I goshoppingfor a pair of jeans, I endupwith a shirtand a cutepair of shoestomatch. Normallyto buy somethingmaytake20 minutes, but it maybecome2 hoursforwomen. A manjustdoesn'tseemtonoticethings as a woman. Ormaybe it is because a manjustdoesn'tcare. Inanycase, when a malesays he will be back in 20 minutesfromshopping, he will be back in 20 minutesorless.

  17. 3rd BodyThirdly, a femalenormallyspendsmoremoneythan a male. Mostfemaleswanteverythingto be name brandregardless of thecost of theitem. A maledoesn'tcaretoomuchif it has Nikeor Adidas logo on it or not. All he caresabout is whetheror not it doesthejob. On theotherhand, onething I havenoticedabout a man is his tools. He willspend a lot of money on name brandtools.

  18. CONCLUSION A concluding paragraph is your chance to remind the reader of your thesis. Also, the conclusion brings the paper to a natural and graceful end, sometimes leaving the reader with a final thought on the subject. For example,

  19. Inessence, womenand men aredifferent in a lot of ways. Onedifference is forsure, andthat is shopping. Mostwomenliketotaketheir time andlookforgreatbuysandcutethings, but most men couldcarelessaboutthatstuff. Theyjustgetwhattheywant.Theydo not feeltheneedtotry on theirclothes as women. Most men alsoseemto be a littlemorethriftierwiththeirmoneythanwomen.

  20. Key words to express Comparison: like similar as same in the same way too both most important have in common the same as similarly as well as Key words to express Contrast: although yet whereas however but while differ instead unless unlike on the contrary contrary to even though on the other hand the reverse

  21. Cell phone Regular phone Group 1 Group 2 Radio Ipod Directions: In the groups I assigned, complete the Venn diagram for the two objects. Remember to list the features you are comparing in the diagram. Truck Car Laptop Home PC Group 4 Group 3
