COMMAND Legion crib Br # 78 of the Royal Canadian Legion, located on Highway 22 at Turner Valley, Alberta, has been awarded the opportunity to host the upcoming Royal Canadian Legion Command LEGION CRIB competition on January 21st and 22nd, 2011. Turner Valley is nestled in the foothills of the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains only 30 minutes from Calgary and on the edge of Kananaskis country. Turner Valley offers beautiful hiking trails and an abundance of wildlife. Oil and Gas was discover in the area during the early 1900`s and Turner Valley is known as the birthplace of Alberta’s Oil and Gas industry. In 1914 the first producing well came into production.  It is known as Dingman #1. Turner Valley boasts a remarkable history as not only the first major oilfield in Alberta but at one time the largest oil producer in the British Empire. Many people are attracted to the area for its magnificent scenery and fresh mountain air. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city and enjoy peace and tranquility in a less stressful environment. Br #78 having celebrated our 80th year of operation is equipped with modern kitchen facilities and an excellent chef. Food services will be available for participants and our bar will be open for beverages/refreshments throughout the competition and banquet activities.

(see directions from the Aldersyde the turn off.)

COMMAND Legion crib TRANSPORTATION: Competitors that will be requiring transportation to and from their selected accommodations to participate in the events as scheduled are requested to contactthe Turner ValleyBranch #78, at (403) 933-5492, at least 4 days prior the event so that appropriate arrangements may be made. DIRECTIONS:(see Map) From Calgary: Deer Foot Tr./Highway 2 south to the Highway 7 (Aldersyde Exit West). Highway 7 will take you through Okotoks, 17 klm to Highway 22 and a 4 way stop in Black Diamond. Go directly through Black Diamond to Turner Valley (aprox. 3 klm) The Legion is located on the left at the second available left turn beyond the 50 km speed sign. (And Points north) From Ft. McLeod: (and Points South) Highway 2 North to the Highway 7 (Aldersyde Exit West). Highway 7 will take you through Okotoks, 17 klm to Highway 22 and a 4 way stop in Black Diamond. Go directly through Black Diamond to Turner Valley (aprox. 3 klm). The Legion is located on the left at the second available left turn beyond the 50 km speed sign.
