  2. SECURE IT • SECURE IT is a strategies project designed to implement and evaluate a systemic community development strategy to address the need for career pathways in Cybersecurity. • Seen as a promising national model

  3. 3 Overarching Goals • increase student’s 21st century skills and digital literacy, including general awareness and education about Cyberethics, safety and security (C3) education; • addressing the critical shortage of the Cybersecurity workforce pipeline by increasing the number and diversity of students pursuing careers in Cybersecurity; • increasing the research knowledge base about STEM career preparation, specifically careers in Cybersecurity.

Program Themes • Focus on inquiry and group based methods of learning; • Collaborate with peers to adapt/redesign problem materials; • Experience problem based learning through active engagement in an appropriate activity; • Know the elements of problem solving, including key content identification, scientific literacy, habits of mind, and critical thinking and learning events involved in project development; • Provide and accept feedback gracefully (to and from other participants and instructors); • Actively participate in all class field trips; actively participate in class discussions; • Be a reflective learner.

Two 9 week sessions • Usually 1 ½ hours each session • You choose the day and dates • Paperwork needed for students and attendance records • Activities up to you EXCEPT • Applications before Robotics • MW—then Excel—then Scratch • 1-2 speakers • Field trip (connected with Cool Careers/C3) • We will help with recruitment • When possible, we can help “launch” each semester • When possible, we will help in Show & Share • We will help provide speakers (please give 30 day notice)
