Introduction. After the 8th workshop. 2002, decision for an ERFP call for actions. The new Steering Committee continues its work one year more: President + Secretariat + 4 countries ( Greece, Netherlands, Poland, Lithuania). Whole Steering Committee to stand for re-election or replacement in 2003. Development of ERFP web site. New questions : ERFP role in the Global Strategy – ERFP position within Europe.
ERFP activities since Cairo. 1 Annual Report of the Workshop. This report exists since 1997. Sent to all NCs + participants + some organisations (around 60 copies) No comment concerning this mailing + questions about information which could be found in this report. Cost for the ERFP secretariat: 2 working weeks+ 300 € . Proposals and Decisions .

Important ERFP participation. • November 2002 – Thessaloniki (Greece) • January 2003 – Rome (Italy) • March 2003 – Domzale (Slovenia) • May 2003 – Sigulda ( Latvia) • June 2003 – Ioannina (Greece) Technical support to establish CRs in West Africa. ERFP activities since Cairo. 3 E.C. – DG Agriculture – new 1467/94 Old regulation GENRES, 1994 – 1999. 21 programmes funded ; 4 on AnGR (Pig, Rabbit, Cattle, Permanent inventory) New development in 2003. ERFP involved through the NCs during 2 meetings (February and March 2003) • Role of existing networks (ECP/GR, ERFP, EUFORGEN) • Socioeconomic aspects of rural development • Sustainable agriculture • Budget ( 7 – 10 millions Euros). • Consultation on draft work programme. The new 1467/94 could start at the beginning of 2004. The ERFP must play a role.
ERFP situation. 1 The Rome Workshop. Specific budget established during ERFP-SC (Paris -20/06/03). Main criteria for invited persons: • Official NCs • European/ Non EU members. • Major input into the workshop. • Rotation between countries. Final decision by ERFP-SC Proposals for modifications / EU enlargement.

To reinforce the collaboration and exchanges between NCs. 25/11/2002- Deadline for submissions. 02/12/2002- Discussions / Selection Panel . 23/12/2002- Results of the 2002 ERFP Call. Two projects were funded: • Development of guidelines for cryopreservation in Europe (20 K€) • Study on optimising the implementation of databases on AnGR in Europe (20 K€).

(NC Ireland + NC Germany) • Study on in-situ conservation of AnGR. (NC Cyprus + NC Italy) Proposals – Decisions for a new call for actions.
