  2. Computer people are nerds • Do nerds use instant messaging? • Do nerds spend time in Sims? • Do nerds have friends on MySpace and Facebook?

  3. Women use technology • Women control about 83 percent of all consumer purchases, and we are the main buyers of home computers. • Even though we buy most of the personal technology, we only hold 27 percent of the computer related jobs.

  4. Fewer women in IT than in the past • From 1983 to 2006 the number of computer science bachelor’s degrees awarded to women dropped to 21 percent from 36 percent. (Source: the National Center for Women & Information Technology)

  5. IT needs women • Men in IT are doing a great job • Women can make it even better • Researchers have found that diversity in any workplace can only help boost creativity and innovation. • That leads to better products

  6. IT and the job market • Many industries/professions are dying, not IT • Computer and math related jobs are expected to grow faster than almost any other gigs through 2016, according to the Department of Labor.

  7. Girl Power=Computers Be part of the future! • Robots • Virtual worlds • Computer games Let’s not let the boys design it all.
