  1. Design Magazine Oct.,26th,2004 Hi, I’m Naoya, Naoya Okamoto. Let me explain my magazine. Naoya OKAMOTO Royal College of Art, Design Products

  2. Well… I’m wondering how many people here read blog. Actually I read blog almost everyday and I have my own blog. DO YOU READ BLOG? DO YOU HAVE YOUR BLOG?

  3. ”The democratization of publishinghas had an enormous effect on the world. In the 16th century, the printing press and reliable postal service became available at about the same time. Even though most of the world was illiterate, the ultimate effect of a newly easier exchange of ideas included the rise of humanism, the flowering of the Renaissance and the Industrial Revolution.” “The Web server is the cheapest printing press in history.” “Clearly, there is an enormous interplay of ideas occuring in the world today. And while the number of bloggers, and people with Net access, even, is small compared with the population of the world, I would guess that number is much larger than the small group of literate people who sparked the modern world by exchanging ideas in the 16th century. The Net and Apache are like Gutenebrg's press and mail service - enormous enablers that I believe will spark unprecedented change in the world.”, Chris Gulker ”Following a well-maintained, up-to-date personal blog is - short of shacking up with someone - the most efficient method yet invented to keep track of what's going on in another person's head over extended periods: what they're working on, linking to, obsessing about, listening to, reading. On a day-to-day basis,I am more intimately aware of the latest happenings in the world of my 10 favorite bloggers than I am of what's going on with my closest friends. And of those 10 bloggers, I've met only two or three in person.” ‘Mind Share’(by Steven Johnson),Wired ”Following a well-maintained, up-to-date personal blog is - short of shacking up with someone - the most efficient method yet invented to keep track of what's going on in another person's head over extended periods: what they're working on, linking to, obsessing about, listening to, reading. And other one mentions it as nano publishing.. Other people are discussing ‘blogging vs. journalism’ Many people say many things but I think it is at least an important movement that can have an influences on current publishing system. ‘Blogging vs. journalism’ “bloggers are to big media what Open Source and shareware coders can be to Microsoft and Intel.」 「Most high-traffic blogs belong to tech 'celebs' of one sort or another. But there is a small category of blogger whose fame and traffic have risen on the strength of their ideas and the quality of their reporting and writing. They succeed, in true Darwinian fashion, by drawing readers in and back again. They do this by being interesting, and believable even though they lack the credibility and marketing budgets of big-brand media .”, Chris Gulker ‘Blogging vs. journalism’ “bloggers are to big media what Open Source and shareware coders can be to Microsoft and Intel.」 「Most high-traffic blogs belong to tech 'celebs' of one sort or another. Blog recognition rises: Blogs beat Britney Spears by 23% NEW YORK: Steve Rubel writes: According to Google News, since July 2 [2004] there have been more than 3,470 online news articles that have mentioned either blogs, weblogs, blog or weblog! This by far eclipses the number of articles that have mentioned Britney Spears in the same period (2,820). So the ability to recognize a weblog has been rising, perhaps catching up to actual readership of weblogs. How big is that readership? The February 29, 2004 Pew Internet and American Life Project report (web summary or full report in pdf) of by Amanda Lenhart, Deborah Fallows, John Horrigan says: -A mere 2% of Adult Internet users maintain Web diaries or Web blogs, according to respondents to this phone survey. -Between 2% and 7% of adult Internet users have created diaries or blogs, per other phone surveys prior to this one, and one more recently fielded in early 2004 -In this survey we found that 11% of Internet users have read the blogs or diaries of other Internet users. -About a third of these blog visitors have posted material to the blog. Most of those who do contribute material are not constantly updating or freshening content. Rather, they occasionally add to the material they have posted, created, or shared.”, Blogcount.com “110 million people read weblogs? On the other hand, it also creates small, tight groups of readers that could make ideal target audiences for advertisers. Like search engines, once considered loss leaders, there is therefore an opportunity for “monetising something cool,” reckons Hal Varian, an economist at the University of California at Berkeley.” “Golden Blog’, The Economistv “Because blogging is becoming so popular, people are belatedly pondering its economics. Such a Web site would typically be accessible to any Internet user. Part of the reason "blog" was coined and commonly accepted into use is the fact that in saying "blog," confusion with server log is avoided.] “To be honest, the revenue model on this sort of publishing seems slightly scary. Yep, the costs are micro...but I'm slightly sceptical about how much advertising money there is coming in, given that you have relatively small amounts of advertising inventory to play with.” ”Nano publishing is about multiple income streams, each one contributing their own little grain of mustard to the complete steak meal. Nano publishing is about creating a business that also manages risk -- the risk of one income stream drying up. Therefore, we do not base our whole business on advertising, or even one type of advertising, we have multiple ways of earning money, some of which die and others of which cut in and so on. Microdoc News has three forms of advertising, affiliate fees, information sales, and promotional services.” “To imagine that nano publishing is just about advertising, no wonder Waldman considers that the business model is rather thin. Nano publishing is rather much more like full-scale publishing than Waldman has imagined.”, Waldman,The Guardian “To be honest, the revenue model on this sort of publishing seems slightly scary. There are millions of IM's every day. Where did that time come from? Telephone calls and email. The average person spends hours per month surfing. Where did it come from? TV, trade magazines, catalogs. This is nothing new. TV took time out of Radio. There are only so many hours in a day but the number of "channels" of communication is constantly expanding. It is mostly additive. This phenomenon is not a bug; it is a feature. Having so many channels allows us more choice, more breadth and depth, and more on demand information and expertise.Technical people have told me that blogs have become their primary source of technical information. Some people are using Newsgator as their primary way to read news. Blogging will begin to take a chunk of time away from email, surfing, IM, trade magazines, newspapers, and journals.”, John Patrick “Where did we get the time to use Instant Messaging? 4. Blog… Of course you can read any blog free on the net. Whenever you want on your pc or laptop. BLOG

  5. Even when you are waiting a bus at a bus stop, You can read them on your laptop. But I think it is not smart. It’s smarter isn’t it? ;-) (pointing the left person) He’s reading a magazine. He must be a geek(pointing the right person again). He must be smart(pointing the left person). Then I decided to provide a paper magazine based on blogs. smarter! magazine

  6. That’s the ‘BLOG@zine’. It something like printing service rather than a normal magazine. So if you buy this BlOG@zine, … BLOG@zine

  7. …you will find that the most of the pages are blank. But don’t worry! You will also find a kind instruction… BLOG@zine - Blank Pages

  8. …on the first page. Now let’s follow this instruction with me. BLOG@zine - Instruction

  9. BLOG@zine - Printing For the first, you have to find the BLOG@zine terminal. Actually I think this is the most difficult point in this procedure ;-) Then you can easily choose your favorite blogs on the display. And insert the blank page in your BLOG@zine. After waiting for a while, you can get the printed blogs on you BLOG@zine.

  10. This is a example of the article based on a blog named ‘CITY OF SOUND’ written by a designer who lives in London. He reported about an architecture of a ridiculous building in MIT, after visiting there. Actually I don’t know him well but I think it is very interesting. But I know, of course, if you don’t usually read blogs or have not ever read blogs, It is hard to find which is good blog and which is … rubbish. Because most of the blogs on the Web are … rubbish. BLOG@zine - CITY OF SOUND

  11. So BLOG@zine also provides the guide as ‘BLOG@zine recommends’ like this. BLOG@zine - Recommendation

  12. And you can also write down your own diary on your BLOG@zine by hand writhing. So at last, it’ll become a complex diary of yours and someone else’s. BLOG@zine - Your Diary

  13. After filling all the pages, you can take it off... BLOG@zine - Taking off

  14. …and collect it. It will become your original, complex diary of you and someone else you are interested in. I think reading someone’s dairy is like following or tracing someone’s life… …or experiencing it virtually. BLOG@zine - Complex Diary

  15. So this is the message of BLOG@zine. ‘Life is short. Experience multiple lives. That’s the BLOG@zine’ That’s it. Thank you. LIFE IS SHORT EXPERIENCE MULTIPLE LIVES BLOG@zine
