How do I get what I need? Data comes from multiple sources The Challenge of the Past

Browses allow users to get what they need faster The Present – So we installed .NET. Now what?

Browse Hyperlink (Browse URL) Link to external web pages Link to internal document libraries Link to a QAD maintenance function or report Link to a QAD browse Links can be either general or specific. They can apply to 1 value only, or all values Browse URL Links pull the information together

Customer Service needs to find out the status of a shipment for a customer When was the order shipped? What’s the Bill of Lading or Tracking number? When will it be delivered? Example 1 – External Link

1. What field do you want to link to? Ctrl + F in a maintenance function Right-click on the top of the column and click Properties or use Browse Maintenance Setting up an External Link

2. Where do you want to go? Setting up an External Link (c’td)

3. Browse URL Maintenance, 36.20.10.11, mgburlmt.p Setting up an External Link (c’td)

6. Determine what field the link should apply to and where the link should go In this case, the field is idh_part, and it’s going to a local drive Link to a Document Library (c’td)

General links can be created for any type of URL To replace a value in the URL with the value of the field in the browse, use #b# – beginning of field to replace #e# – end of field to replace For example, #b#ih_inv_nbr#e# General Browse Links

15. Use Drill-Down/Lookup Maintenance Link to a Browse (c’td)

There is virtually no limit to the number of browse URL links you can create Links can be to all kinds of documents including PDF, Excel, Word, JPG, CAD drawings, etc. Browse Link Maintenance is a similar function that will open the appropriate maintenance function when you double-click a record in the browse Not all versions of QAD may not have 5 fields to link.
