Notes for 6/2/2005 PAMS Spreadsheet • ISC Big • Sort columns D/E/F to see time series. • Sort column G to see worst delays. • Sort column H to see largest messages. • Compare size of large messages to SvcBU sizes in SvcBU Num. • ISC Msg • SR & CR WFOs sending ISC to EHU & BCQ. • Remarkable number of WFOs sending ISC to FSL & NWSTC. • FWD sending ISC to SFMG. • GGW sent ISC to VHW. (LKN & TWC send occasionally too.) • LWX and PHI sent ISC to VUY.

Notes for 6/2/2005 PAMS Spreadsheet • ISC Num • 14 WFOs sending ISC to themselves: VEF, MHX, LWX, IND, SJT, CLE, GGW, FSD, BUF, ARX, JAN, RNK, PQR, RIW. • “Auto ISC” does measurable harm to WFO performance. Probably harms attached hub site too. 62 Mb from RNK to RNK that day; 2nd highest ISC path. • Auto ISC not needed to perform SvcBU. SvcBU scripts care for configuration changes. • SvcBU Num • Sort column C to see frequent transmitters. • Sort column I to see over-sized SvcBU files. Compare to neighboring WFOs. • Rsync WFOs won’t appear here. • 35 WFOs sending SvcBU hourly. Very little change in past 2 weeks. • CHS, AKQ, APX, BUF, CAE, CRP, CTP, DLH, EPZ, FFC, FWD, GSP, HUN, ILM, ILN, JAN, LCH, LIX, LMK, LOT, LSX, LUB, LWX, MHX, OHX, OKX, PAH, PBZ, RAH, SHV, SJU, ALY, BGM, BRO, BTV.

Configuration Issues • Excessive hours sent for ISC (10 days!) • Too many weather elements sent for ISC and SvcBU. • Both can be readily limited. • Captured ifpServer logs for one day. • 402 unique elements sent for ISC that day. • 267 “solo elements” sent by single WFOs. • Samples: badWind (TSA), CatDay (CAE), ClearIndex (BYZ), Fosberg (MAF), gHWOCstlFldHghSrf (TBW), Grassland (UNR), HWOthunderwind (SGF), Ice01 (JAN), MOG (AFC) • Will post more complete list on web page. • Limit number of grids/message.

  6. Rsync Prototype • 19 WFOs now using rsync. • AFC, AFG, JKL (5/2004) • BOU, BYZ, CYS, EAX (5/18/2005) • PUB, RIW, TSA, GGW (5/23/2005) • ABR, AMA, BIS, DDC, GID, GLD, OUN, UNR (6/1/2005) • Last 7 WFOs to be added week of 6/6/2005. • ICT, LBF, OAX, SGF, TFX, TOP, FSD • Tweak & tune. Load balance between 2 servers. • Assess possible expansion.
