  1. CompactLogix 5370 Programmable Automation Controllers High performance control in a compact and affordable package

  2. Agenda Overview Features and Benefits Applications Anatomy Questions

  3. CompactLogix 5370 Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs) Expanding on the scalability of the Logix family of controllers, the CompactLogix 5370 PACs offer the high performance capabilities in a smaller, packaged (L1 and L2) form factor. This offering, together with Kinetix® 350, provides a strong motion solution with performance and cost competitiveness for customers who require high performance in a compact and affordable package and significantly lowers the cost to deploy integrated motion in a variety of machine applications, all on one common network – EtherNet/IP.

  4. Scalability • One development environment for all machines • Easily scale motion control applications on EtherNet/IP • Simplified line integration Past: Supply a Machine Then: Integrate to Other Machines Now: Provide a Complete Line

  5. Simplified network architecture Allows unparalleled access to machine data Enables faster decision-making Dual port Ethernet switch in all CompactLogix 5370 PACs Common programming and configuration tools RSLogix™ 5000 Design and Configuration Software and Integrated Architecture Builder Simplifies design and maintenance Speeds time to market Reduces time for troubleshooting and maintenance Enables easy application code migration Simplification RSLogix 5000 Design & Configuration Software

  6. Embedded Ethernet switch that supports Device Level Ring (DLR) Allows user to connect the Ethernet network in a ring topology Provides resiliency from loss of one network connection Allows replacement of devices/drives one at a time without stopping production Reduces the number of Ethernet switches in the system which reduces cost Integrated Motion on EtherNet/IP (ERM models only) Supports all motion instructions including kinematics Open socket capabilities Easily add Ethernet devices to your control system such as printers, robots, RFID devices, etc. Single Network Architecture

  7. CPU Enhancements 2x performance improvement for standard applications over current L2x series controller 2x performance improvement for motion applications over current L4x series controller Integrated Motion on EtherNet/IP Scalable motion solution providing just enough control Supports up to 16 axes integrated motion on EtherNet/IP “Right-sizes” your machine when used with Kinetix 350 Single Axis Servo Drive Kinematics support eliminates the need for additional robot controllers and software High Performance CompactLogix 5370 L2 with 1769 expansion I/O CompactLogix 5370 L1 with 1734 expansion I/O Kinetix 350 Single Axis Servo Drive

  8. Removable Secure Digital (SD) memory card Faster reads and writes compared to Compact Flash Improves data integrity Provides easy, portable transfer of machine programs without software download Offers configurable parameters to enable automatic program load from SD card on power up 9-Pin D-shell serial port replaced with USB port Improved performance for flashing firmware, uploads and downloads, on-line edits, and bridging to the backplane Connect to PC using a standard USB cable Performance improvement for firmware flashing Existing 1769-L2x to v20 via Serial port >= 15 mins. CompactLogix 5370 PACs via USB port ~ 01 min. High Performance (cont.) CompactLogix 5370 L3 PAC

  9. Battery-less Energy Storage Solution Eliminates maintenance, transportation and environmental issues associated with lithium batteries Embedded in every CompactLogix 5370 PAC Embedded Components Reduces overall footprint of control system Dual port EtherNet/IP switch 24VDC Isolated Power Supply I/O L2 PACs: 16 digital inputs, 16 digital outputs, 4 universal analog input, 2 analog output, 4 channels HSC L1 PACs: 16 digital inputs, 16 digital outputs Sustainability

  10. Example Use Cases • Indexing tables • Automatic assembly machines • Simple case packers and erectors • Hoisting and cranes • Winders, rewinders, slitters • Process skids • Vertical Form Fill and Seal • Horizontal Form Fill and Seal
