OVERVIEW: Ever since the IT revolution has hit the economies, industries have changed radically. Roles that had never existed previously now dominate the job market. A changing job market means new challenges and greater responsibilities for HR and talent management professionals. New technologies like Data Science, Articial Intelligence and Blockchain are placing excessive demands on recruiters. The demand for skilled professionals is staggering and hiring managers are battling to ll crucial vacancies. Business challenges moved many notches up and sustainability is not the prime issue anymore; the prime issue now is sustenance.   2. DRIVERS OF THE RECRUITMENT FLUX: 2018 was the year of IT job market metamorphosis. 2019 will be the year of its evolution.2018 was the year of digital transformations. While automation and seamless integration reformed underlying business processes, IoT, net neutrality, big data, and actionable analysis portrayed newer challenges. Three technologies, in particular, challenged HR professionals and talent managers in varied ways. The recruitment industry was driven by these three predominant changes: FACT 1 FACT 2 FACT 3 Articial Intelligence jobs compounded by 4.5 times since 2013 Blockchain jobs grew by 2000% for three-quarters in a row (Source: Upwork). Blockchain was quoted as the fastest growing skill with more than 6,000% year-over-year growth in Q1, 2018 Data Science Jobs surged up by 75% Here are the numbers: Monthly Jobs Yearly Jobs Total Candidates 1,104,300 469,642 286,784 59,223 17,434 7,511 Data Science Articial Intelligence Blockchain 710,676 209,208 90,132 Data science jobs were leading the trends. The absence of sufcient skilled professionals rendered 50% of these jobs unlled. This gap is expected to escalate in this year as well.
