Variation in Intensity and Angle of Insolation • Intensity of Insolation: the rate at which solar energy is received by a given area per unit time • When insolation strikes a surface at 90 degrees, it has maximum intensity • As the angle of the sun decreases from 90 degrees toward 0 degrees, the same amount of insolation is spread out, decreasing the heating effect

  3. Variation in Duration of Insolation • Duration of Insolation: The length of time that insolation is received each day, which occurs between sunrise and sunset

  4. Concept Maps • In groups of 3-4, complete the concept maps using your RRB and pages 90-93 • I will be asking groups to write the concept map on the SmartBoard so be prepared! • If you finish before we go over them, please start the HW
