  2. The 1122 Program The 1122 Program is a Federal Program that allows State and local governmental agencies the opportunity to purchase equipment suitable for Homeland Security, Emergency Response, and Counter Drug activities via Federal procurement channels.

  3. Authority for the 1122 Program • Authorization is contained within the National Defense Authorization Act (Section 1122) for fiscal year 1994 and 2009 • The Georgia Department of Public Safety has been designated by the Governor as the lead agency for program management within the State of Georgia.

  4. What is the 1122 Program • It is a Counter Drug, Homeland Security and Emergency Response Procurement Program. • It’s an opportunity to save significant percentages (typically from 15% to as much as 80%) on purchases due to the large volume purchasing power of the Federal Government. • It’s a purchasing opportunity to supplement your current purchasing process. • The 1122 Program is a voluntary program. • It’s a program designed to save you money.

What is Homeland Security A requirement for homeland security to prevent and protect Georgia from terrorist attacks within the United States; reduce America’s vulnerability to terrorism, major disasters, and other emergencies; and minimize the damage and recover from attacks, major disasters, and other emergencies that occur.

What is Emergency Response A requirement for first responders plus emergency management, public health, clinical care, public works, and other skilled support personnel (such as equipment operators) that provide immediate support services during prevention, response, and recovery operations. The emergency responder community consists not just of fire, law enforcement, and medical immediate responders to an accident or emergency situation but also to the infrastructure that supports them and other emergency response organizations.
