  2. Thomson One Banker Analytics Add-in The Add-in was created to make it easier to perform analysis in excel and enable users to get external data easily into their models. It is an increasing demand for flexibility from data products and the add-in plays an important part in increasing flexibility for users, from simple online display pages to a fully integrated system which enables end users to customise their data products full. It has a number of functionalities and this tip sheet aims to take you through some of the most useful ones. This is where you will find the lookups you can use to find company identifiers or data item codes Under Thomson One Banker you can access this list of options. Some of these are also accessible other places on the add-in This button is used when you want to calculate your model This button takes you directly to the online application This will access the help file which contain useful tips and background info Use is functionality to insert VBA buttons into your models This button will convert all your formulas to values. PS! This also converts your excel formulas to values! Under “Reports” you will find a full, ready-made reports library Use these to upload a list of companies or to download an already saved set of companies Here are some standard reports which you can easily pick up for a quick overview or as a starting point on a model The “Login Info” box shows the server you are logging onto, the user name and password. There are a number of reports available under each of these categories

  3. Options All the options relating to calculation are there to ensure that the add-in fits smoothly into your workflow and works seamlessly with Excel. It is worth looking at these and setting it up in a way which best suits your day-to-day workflow “Data Filling” allows you to fill in empty data points. For example if you want to see monthly data on a daily basis. This should be used with care, as it could also fill in data where you might not expect it to “Base Periods” allows you to set the default period for when you don’t use a date. In general though it is always the safest option to use a date in the code TA Office Options contains login information and other information related to the specification of the add-in This section allows you to set the default for all your models of what you want returned when there is no data available, The Data Code return values refer to codes which return an error. For example if you are using a function which is not applicable for the data set you are using. The “Application Options” concern two areas: Calculation and enable / disable Hotkeys You can set the default currency for all your models and data here. If you type a currency into your actual PFDL code, this will overwrite your options settings Tip: It is generally recommended to have the “Retrieve data only when calced manually .... “ option selected. If you chose the first option the model will calculate every time you make any changes, which in bigger models can be very time consuming In the “Miscellaneous” section you can set some other options to ensure that you return the best data as per your requirements NB! Please Note that..... ..... you use these options with care as they may sometimes cause unexpected results. For example you may set the settings to Billions and Japanese Yen if you are looking at a Japanese Company, then forget all about it, returm a week later to look at a UK company and suddenly the data looks very strange. Because of this, checking your Data Options should be Step 1 when troubleshooting data

  4. Wizards The Function Wizard essentially does the same as the Excel function help. It displays the different arguments in the functions if you are unsure. The differences between PFDL, SFDL & TFDL is discussed in more detail in other tip sheets The Price Wizard allows you to create a time series of market data for one or more companies. Choose the items you want to see displayed by checking the boxes. The options are High, Low, Close, Volume and Market Cap The Searching Wizard allows you to search for sets of companies which pass certain criteria. This functionality is discussed in greater detail in a separate tip sheet The Report Wizard allows you to create excel reports in an easy step by step guided way Step 2 You add your companies in here. If you don’t know the identifiers you can look them up here Add your companies. Please be aware that you need to know the identifiers as there are no way of looking up the tickers in the Price Wizard Step 1 You select the items you want in your report here Choose your time period and frequency The second part of the Report Wizard allows you to dictate the layout of your report In the Advanced Options you will find options on how to deal with #N/A’s, Scaling and Adjustments amongst other things. Here you can set a currency and choose whether or not you want to pad data into non-trading days. (E.g. Public Holidays) The Tick here if you want to see the exchange rate as well Tick here if you want to see the data ascending instead of descending (default) If you want to rebase your data to any value, you can tick this box and insert any value you would like to see. Step 3 Set your period selection and frequency in this section
