What can you expect from your BTEC teacher? • Professionalism – We will treat you as apprentices and will respect you as colleagues do in the workplace. • Creativity – We will support you with your ideas and will support you in achieving your designs. • Meeting Deadlines – We will inform you of deadlines and will remind you when they are due. • Independent work – We will set appropriate homework that will help you achieve a high standard of work. We will work with you during tutorials to both come to an agreement of tasks that are relevant to your project.

  2. Our expectations of a Year 11 BTEC student. • Professionalism – we are teaching you how to be a designer. We expect you to act like one. • Creativity – There are no limits with the variety of methods you can use to create exciting work. • Meeting Deadlines – Meeting deadlines is essential for achieving. You will not pass units if they are handed in late. • Independent work – Research, drawings, practical work… all work that you do in your own time is essential for your achievement.

  6. Sculpture can be made by shaping solid materials such as.... wood clay metal ice stone

  7. ...or by putting materials together. What has the artist used to make these sculptures?

  8. Sculpture is often about the human body.

  9. ...but it can be about anything. Even food...as in these sculptures by Claes Oldenburg

  11. ...but it can be tiny.

  12. Do you have to be good at painting and drawing to make a sculpture?

  13. ...not really! All you need is your imagination. I think this will make a brilliant castle...or maybe....

  14. Is sculpture always made of hard materials like wood and stone?

  15. No...sculpture can be made out of anything...

  16. They don’t have to be solid wire

Homework • Create a moodboard of images that show SCULPTURE made using RECYCLED MATERIALS. • Include the artists names and title of the work. • This homework should be in colour and should include at least 10 – 15 images. • Remember to look at www.ricardslodgeart.weebly.com or links and tips.
