Why • Today average clearance times vary between two days (European Union and United States) and eight days (Eastern Europe, Middle Eats and Africa) • It is estimated that even a modest 10% increase in the efficiency of the clearance processes would decrease costs for a company by 10.5 million EURO per day • The average customs declaration costs in a European country is 31 EUR

  4. Expected results • simple, effective, transparent processes for international trade • so that the activities between the buyer, seller and relevant authorities are more efficient, cost-effective and supportive of automation.

  5. Activities • The Centre develops and maintains instruments: - that are open and technology neutral - have global remit - are open to the participation of any business or government - will cater to the needs of large or small companies and of developed and developing countries alike

Main areas of activities • Key work area 1: Facilitating national and international trading and business transactions and working towards the elimination of constraints • Key work area 2: Engaging in open dialogue to achieve improved coordination and cooperation • Key work area 3: Improving the ability of business, trade and administrative organizations to exchange products and relevant services effectively
