  1. The Do’s and Don’ts in Resigning Your 9 to 5 Job

  2. Are you thinking of escaping the 9 to 5 desk job you are having right now? If you are, you should do it gracefully. The first thing you have to do is to turn in your resignation. You should be very wary when it comes to your resignation because most employees are handling it in various ways which mostly turned out to be a bad option.

  3. If you want to resign in your 9 to 5 career gracefully, you should notify your HR two weeks before you resign, you should write a polite resignation letter and lastly, you thank your employer for the work opportunities they gave you while you are in the company. By doing so, you will be leaving the company with a positive output and you’ll have a bigger chance of getting a good reference. Aside from the following, here are the Resignation Do’s and Don’ts you may want to follow:

  4. DO’S DO provide notice if it’s possible. If you are going to resign, giving two weeks’ notice is a standard practice. But if you want to live sooner, you may want to ask if you can leave sooner. DO leave your computer spotless clean. They are instances that even if you give out a notice, your employer may want to end it right away and show you the door. So before you decide to turn in your resignation, you should clean up your computer first. Delete all your personal files, emails and make sure to have a copy of the contact information of everyone you need to stay in touch with as you leave.

  5. DO write a formal resignation letter. Writing a formal resignation letter to your employer is a nice idea even if you already resign via email or through the phone. Remember if you are not certain on what you’ll write, you should not state your last day of work because you don’t have to say much.

  6. DON’TS DON’T put everything in writing. Although you really hate your job, boss or the whole company you should not say it. Keep your hatred to yourself. Your resignation should be simple because it will be placed in your employment profile and it could come back to haunt you in the future. DON’T be a negative employee. As you talk with your co-employees you should stay positive and state how the company has helped you. You’re already moving on so you should leave on good terms.

  7. DON’T ever brag about your new career. Even if you have your dream job you should not brag about it. There is no point of doing so, you’ll just make your ex-co-workers feel bad that you are leaving and you are having a better career. You should follow these tips as you file your resignation so that you can gracefully leave your job without any negative feedbacks.
