  10. fy21-25 proposed CIP

  11. Newly-proposed projects for fy21-25 • Painting – All Schools – Provide funding for painting large, impactful areas, such as entranceways and gyms, within our four City schools. • Turf Practice Fields – Fairfax HS – Replace current practice fields with synthetic turf. Joint project with Parks and Recreation. Proposed replacement schedule is: FY21 – band practice field, FY22 – softball field, FY24 – baseball field, and FY25 – sports practice field. • Stadium– Fairfax HS – Repair and upgrade the stadium. Address erosion and structural cracks. Bring the stadium up to current ADA standards.

  12. Proposed Ongoing maintenance FY21-25

  13. Specific maintenance Lanier Middle School • Elevator Replacement– One of the elevators at Lanier is the original that was installed when the building was brought to ADA code. That elevator, located adjacent to the theater, was installed in 1993 and is at its EOUL(20-25 years). • Elevators undergo maintenance and code inspections every six months by National Elevator Inspection Services Company. Additionally, elevators are inspected monthly by Quality Elevator and annually by the fire marshal. • This item is a holdover from previous CIPs and has not been replaced but will be, when needed.

  14. Maintenance – all schools • Carpet and Tile - There are several rooms that currently have carpet that needs to be converted to tile, or existing tile that needs to be replaced. It is anticipated that the cost will be $4,000 per room. • Concrete Repairs - Curb and gutter repairs around the building are required to support appropriate drainage of precipitation. • HVAC- There are a number of rooftop units that have reached the EOUL. Additionally, maintenance records are supporting the replacement of these units.  • Paving– There are a number of projects that need repair in the next several years. • Roof Repair – Lanier MS and Fairfax HS have a Puff roofing system that is currently under warranty. At the end of the warranty it is recommended that this roof be replaced with a traditional built-up roof that will meet the specifications by FCPS so that the annual maintenance will become their responsibility as delineated in the contractual relationship.
