  4. Leonard Ivey Hornsby Ada Bell Guthrie Hornsby CA: 1920 CA: 1900 “Ivey” was the first child of Leonard and Ludy Hornsby. Born October 24, 1875, he married Ada Bell Guthrie on September 2, 1894. They had 8 children. After his wife Ada passed on April 20, 1927 of pellgra, Ivey married Opehlia Hancock Cannon and they had one child. Ivey a merchant and a farmer died on January 28, 1952.

  5. Jocir Calvin Hornsby CA: 1895 “Joe” was the second child of Leonard and Ludy Hornsby. He was born October 29, 1877. On June 1, 1902, he married Mary Ann “Annie” Howard (she died in 1963). Jocir was a farmer and a merchant until he died April 25, 1925.

  6. Sarah Docah Hornsby Webster CA: 1890’s “Docah” was the third child of Leonard and Ludy Hornsby. Born October 10, 1879, she married Francis Webster on January 7, 1900. They had 5 children. Docah and Francis farmed until they retired. She died on November 17, 1960 and Frances passed on July 23, 1962.

  7. Anna Lou Hornsby L-R: Whit Golden, Anna Lou Hornsby and Cromer. CA: 1890’s CA: 1950’s “Anna” was the fourth child of Leonard and Ludy Hornsby. Born in 1881, she married William Ledbetter in 1900. They had 4 children. William died in 1936 and she died in 1954.

  8. Lonnie Mark Hornsby L-R: Jimmie Olivia McGhar and Lonnie Mark Hornsby, Leslie McGhar (Brother of Olivia) CA: 1906 CA: 1900 “Lonnie” was the fifth child of Leonard and Ludy Hornsby. He was born October 5, 1883. On January 22, 1906, he married Jimmie Olivia McGhar (born Dec 24, 1888 – died May 2, 1974). They had 4 children. Lonnie was a farmer and cotton ginner from 1906 -1950. He died on May 19, 1958.

  9. Andrew Jackson Hornsby CA: 1905 “Jack” was the sixth child of Leonard and Ludy Hornsby. He was born April 8, 1886. On January 5, 1908, he married Katie Lee Holman and they had 4 children. He was a farmer during his short life and was killed November 1, 1912 as the result of argument over a land line.

  10. John Wilson Hornsby Wilse, James and Rosie Hornsby CA: 1900’s “Wilse” was the seventh child of Leonard and Ludy Hornsby. He was born February 25, 1890. On January 7, 1912, he married Rosa (Rosie) Etta Gunn (born 1897) and they had 2 children. He was a farmer, in the timber and gravel business. Wilse died on September 1, 1962 and Rosie died on June 8, 1985.

  11. Willie Dee Hornsby L-R: Willie Dee Hornsby and friend Otis Milner CA: 1908 “Willie Dee” was the eight child of Leonard and Ludy Hornsby. He was born July; 8, 1892. On January 31, 1916, he married Minnie P. Howard (born June 9,1899 – died June 8, 1985) and they had 7 children. He was a farmer and merchant until his death in 1942. In later years Minnie married Henry Wilkerson. She is buried between both her husbands.

  12. Sidney Elbert Hornsby “EL” was the ninth child of Leonard and Ludy Hornsby. He was born July 15, 1893. On July 10, 1919, he married Linda Lee Guthrie (born April 2, 1888 – died April 23, 1980) and they had 10 children. EL and Linda were farmers and dealt in timber.

  13. Eula Mae Hornsby Eula Mae Hornsby and Edgar Davis Christian CA: 1940’s “Eula” was the tenth child of Leonard and Ludy Hornsby. She was born September 8, 1894. On December 27, 1911 she married Edgar Davis Christian (born December 10,1889 – died February 4, 1970) and they had 3 children. Edgar was a farmer and a carpenter. Eula died on June 21, 1979.

  14. Levi Fernando Hornsby CA: 1912 “Fernando” was the eleventh child of Leonard and Ludy Hornsby. He was born June 9, 1896. On Feb 16, 1917 he married Ora Taylor (born April 18, 1903 – died July 26, 1982). They had one child. Fernando was a farmer and cattleman all his adult life. He died on August 2, 1964.

  15. Pearl Hornsby CA: 1901 “Pearl” was the twelth child of Leonard and Ludy Hornsby. She was born July 12, 1898. On October 13, 1917 she married Edgar Crawford. and they had no children. Pearl died on August 24.1919 from pellagra (a vitamin deficiency disease).

  16. Ernest Arnold Hornsby “Arnold” was the thirteenth child of Leonard and Ludy Hornsby. He was born November 13, 1900. He first married Pearl Webster and they had one child. He later married Kate Clayton on Jan.12, 1935 (she was born June 19, 1916 - died July 16, 1990). Arnold was interested in politics. He named one son after Harry S Truman and he had one son who was the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. He died on July 24, 1970. Arnold and Kate’s children are Earnest “Sonny”, Betty Sue, Truman Edward, Judy Clar, and Donald Ray.

  17. Hornsby Background The Hornsby’s came to America from Lincolnshire County in Wales, in the British Isles. They were descendants of the Celts. The Hornsby’s are full of colorful characters both in the past and present. ************************************************************************************************ Leonard Arnold Hornsby father of Leonard Jackson Hornsby was born December 3, 1822. He volunteered and fought in the Mexican, Seminole and Civil War. Stories abound about how Leonard Arnold’s wagon broke down in Tallapoosa County and he met Elizabeth. He liked what he saw and made a deal with the father to wed Elizabeth in August 21, 1847. Other legends tell of Leonard being a prize fighter. Sometime after 1866, the family settled at Walnut Hill.
