  1. Characters The Heartbreaker

  2. Nick Buchanan Nick is an FBI agent whose job is to save Laurant’s life and catch the serial killer that is after her. He is described as rugged and very hansom. Nick is also Laurant’s brothers best friend, however he begins to fall in love with her throughout the novel. He is very protective and would do anything to keep Laurant and his best friend Tommy safe.

  3. Laurant Madden Laurant is an innocent girl whom everyone in the small town of Holy Oaks likes. She is described as a beautiful 25 year old with long legs and a perfect body. She is fearless and always does what she feels is right. She grew up in a boarding school in Switzerland after her parents died and now lives in a small town where she runs her own store. She has never been in a serious relationship and has always been independent.

  4. Tommy Madden Tommy is a Catholic priest who cares very much about his only family that he has left which would be his sister Laurant. He is mentally tortured by a serial killer as he is told that his sister is going to be murdered throughout the novel. Tommy is an honest man and would do anything for his church and his community. Tommy has red hair and freckles. He is physically fit and routinely plays sports with the less fortunate kids in his neighbourhood.

  5. Nick Character Map Laurant Tommy EVENT: Nick and Laurant falling in love. Noah Killer

  6. How they reacted to events How they have changed as a result

  7. Film version I think that Rachel Bilson would be perfect for the role of Laurant because she is very pretty and could easily portray an innocent, and friendly girl. She also has dark brown hair and brown eyes which match Laurant's description. Nick Laurant Paul Walker would be perfect for the role of Nick Buchanan because he is rugged and hansom. He would also have a sense of humor which Nick uses frequently to destract Laurant from thinking about the killer who is after her.

  8. I choose Kellan Lutz to play Noah because he is hansom and could easily play an FBI agent. He usually plays a protective character and looks like a ladies man which the character Noah is portrayed. Tommy Noah I choose Mark Wahlbergto play the part of Tommy because he usually plays the good guy. I also think that he could easily be the good hearted older brother.

  10. The Killer (Justin Brady)

  11. Conflict The Heartbreaker

  12. Climax When the killer finally shoots at Laurant he misses. If she wouldn’t have been running to try and save her brother than she would have been killed. Instead she was only shot in the calf. This was the climax of the novel because the killer finally attacked Laurant after he taunted them throughout the book.

  13. Conflict

  14. The Heartbreaker The novel is entitled The Heartbreaker because the serial killer calls himself by that name. He describes himself as the heartbreaker because he kills his ‘perfect mate’ when they are at the peek of what he considers perfection. Therefore, he breaks their heart before they can break his. He stalks his prey until they disappoint him, then he has to kill them. I think the author chose this title because it describes the killer and what he thinks he is.

  15. Descriptive Sentences & Words

  16. “No sooner were the words out of his mouth than the door to the cockpit opened, and Sorensky, oozing with confidence in his smile, stepped out in the galley.” “It was like being inside a coffin someone had absentmindedly left propped up against the wall, and Father Thomas Madden thanked God he wasn’t claustrophobic.” “She’d looked like a street urchin, a scruffy looking kid wearing a pleated black skirt and a uniform white blouse that was partially hanging out of her waistband.” “Grunting as he eased his bulk out from under the steering wheel, he got out of the car and stood there with his hands on his hips, surveying the crowd.” “Wesson was a prick. He was also crass, obnoxious, rude, and arrogant, and his people skills sucked. Worse, he lacked compassion.” http://www.wordle.net/show/wrdl/1526596/Rachel
