  2. Hebrews 4:12 12For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

  3. The Bible… • The Bible is not “a book.” It is a collection of “books.” • There are 66 books that make up the Bible: • 39 in the Old Testament • 27 in the New Testament.

  4. The Bible… • Over 40 different authors • Over 1,500 years • In 3 different languages • On 3 different continents • Not one contradiction or mistake

  5. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

  6. We believe… The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.

  9. 2. Men wrote it down Written Inspiration is not “Mechanical Dictation” God did not dictate revelation to be written down word for word. He inspired the writers to express ideas in a way that fully captured God’s intent but retained the writer’s personality. “Verbal-Plenary Inspiration”
