  2. General Advising Practices • The Theatre and Dance Department welcomes all new and returning students to a picnic the Sunday before Fall classes start, during which we announce the season and any academic news.

  3. Due to the nature of our discipline, we work closely with students in the mounting of productions and projects and therefore, advising is an on-going process. Advising students to achieve their academic, career, and personal goals often happens outside the regular course selection period.

  4. A few weeks before course selection starts, we hold a mass advising session. During this meeting, we assign advisors to new students and complete Declaration of Major forms. • Students are assigned to a faculty member in their field of interest.

Note for Dance Education Specialization/ Dual Degree • Dance Education Specialization/ Dual Degree requires a minimum of 144 credits • Dance Education Specialization/ Dual Degree requires 6 credits of Dance Education Internships, TAD 496 and TAD 497 • TAD 496 and TAD 497 must be taken within two semesters and can be taken out of sequence • It is recommended to take the first Internship concurrent with or following Methods I

Notes for Dance Majors • Students must be registered in a dance technique/composition class every semester • The following technique/composition classes may be repeated once for credit: TAD 212, TAD 311, TAD 312, TAD 411,TAD 412 • Students may take either TAD 495 or TAD 496 and TAD 497 • Students may take IATAD 113 to satisfy the requirement for TAD 112

Notes for Design/Technical • Students can fulfill the performance requirement (TAD 398) by either stage managing or acting in a faculty-directed production • TAD 223 Theatre Technology Workshop and TAD 224 Design Studio are repeatable for credit as topics change • Production Process is 1-4 credits, depending on the depth of the students' responsibility in production. It may be repeated for credits. Students are required to work backstage on at least two productions. • Design/ Technical students are only required to complete one credit of the variable credit TAD 398 • Students should take ITW in their first semester as a foundation for TAD 231 Theatre History • One of the Integrative Studies in Humanities must be a Language course • Two Integrative Studies courses (8 credits) must be taken at the 300 or 400 level. Students may enroll in the upper level courses once they have completed a minimum of 24 credits • The eight Integrative Studies Disciplinary Perspectives courses must be taken in eight different disciplines.

Notes for Acting • Students can fulfill the performance requirement TAD 398 by either stage managing or acting in a faculty-directed production • TAD 398 Applied Performance is 1-4 credits, depending on the depth of the students' responsibility in performance. It may be repeated for credits. Acting students are required to complete 4 credits of Applied Performance. • TAD 397 Production Process is repeatable for credit. • Students are only required to complete one credit of the variable credit TAD 397 • Students should take ITW in their first semester as a foundation for TAD 231 Theatre History • One of the Integrative Studies in Humanities must be a Language course • Two Integrative Studies courses (8 credits) must be taken at the 300 or 400 level.
