  1. The Power of Working Together: Creating a Vibrant Congregation through Collaborative Professional Partnerships Rabbi Amy Ross, Director of Youth Learning Shelly Sender, Director of Early Childhood Education

  2. Coming together is a beginning; Keeping together is progress; Working together is success. - Henry Ford

  3. Collaborative Efforts • Tot Shabbat and Families with Young Children Services during High Holy Days • Peer Supervisors • Development of consistent policies and procedures where applicable

  4. Collaboration Benefits • Stronger programs • Peer Support • Ease of transition for families • Consistency • We cover for each other – serve as another resource for our families, especially when one of us is not available • Greater relationship building opportunities for families. • Clergy presence in the ECEC

  5. Collaboration Stumbling Block • Limited time to meet and discuss ideas • We have found that good communication is the key to our success. As well, our willingness to cover for each other when the need arises.

  6. A Stronger Institution • We are able to model and practice a united front – consistency for families creates comfort. • We do not let stumbling blocks get in the way. • Relationships are deeper both among our staff and families. • We set a good precedent for other staff and lay leadership. • Pooling of resources means greater potential. • Frees up other resources due to of lack of need for micro-management.

  7. Best Principles • Intentionally build bridges between programs • Communication is key • Encourage a consistent approach • Model the way • Inspire a shared vision The result…recognition that we are one strong and effective entity.

  8. It is the long history of humankind (and animal kind, too) those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed. - Charles Darwin
