Basic Information • Located at 8412 Katy Freeway, Suite 330 Houston, TX 77024 • Ten total Employees- Mr. and Mrs. Williams, Two hygienists, Two dental assistants, 2 front office workers and two interns. Mission: • To assist others in achieving optimal dental health by providing high quality services that promote long term oral health. We will strive to enhance all patients’ self-esteem by creating the healthy smile they desire and deserve.

  3. History • Artistic Works Dentistry was founded in May 2013 by the Williams family. Mr. Courtney Williams and his wife Dr. Adrienne Williams. Dr. Williams runs the clinical side of the office while Mr. Williams handles the business side. Artistic Works Dentistry is an expanding business with lots of potential.

  4. Services and Procedures • Offer teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, orthodontics, dentures, root canal therapy, and massage therapy • Focus on preventative dentistry • Associated with the Food and Drug Administration, American Dental Association, and Texas Dental Association

  5. Being a Front Office Technician • Skills Required: • Computer Skills • No specific degree needed but college courses are helpful • Great Personality • Organized • Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills

  8. On the job • Typical day at work usually involves Mr. Williams assigning a list of things needed to be done to Adeena, the front office manager • She then goes on and defers some of those items to us • Besides office work, we clean up the dental areas and the offices

Dr. Adrienne Williams • D.D.S. • received a Bachelors of Science in Biology with Honors from Xavier University of Louisiana • While in dental school, her research in the Health Promotion and Prevention Department was acknowledged with several awards • After receiving a Doctorate of Dental Surgery, she pursued an additional year of training through the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at UT-Houston Dental Branch

The Road to Becoming a Dentist • Obtain a science-related bachelor’s degree • Apply to Dental School • Work under the supervision of a dentist for the last two years of dental school • Graduate with asDoctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD). • Be certify by the National Board Dental Examinations. • Pursue a specialty if you wish

Job as a Dentist • As a dentist you would be required to: • Educate patients on oral healthcare • Examine teeth and diagnose patients' dental conditions by using tools such as x-rays • Assessing treatment options and agreeing treatment plans with patients • Carry out agreed clinical treatments such as restoring teeth affected by decay and treating gum disease • Maintain patients' dental records • Managing budgets and maintaining stocks of equipment • Keeping up with new developments in dentistry

Job Experiences • Manuel: Working on the Patient Appreciation Event. • A lot of work goes into helping other people and is truly a wonderful experience to shake the hand of professionals that you don’t know and they greet you as an equal. • Ahmed: Being surprised that no one was scared of the dentist there. • The way you deal with people is an important part of the health profession.

Experience as a Whole • It has been amazing having the opportunity to work in a professional environment and develop a sense of responsibility regarding our given assignments • The experience of working here has shown us the true meaning of professionalism as well as how to work with people in the health profession

  14. Inspiration • Adeena has been an inspiration to both of us; she has shown us that despite the many obstacles we may face, as long as we stay focused we can achieve whatever we desire • Adeena moved from Toronto to Houston after getting married and had to redo two years of college because her credits didn’t transfer

  15. Unique Opportunities • We truly appreciate the opportunity that we were given; the opportunity to be part of a growing company and to play a role in the development of this small business
