S.R. 261 Intersection Improvement • Purpose • To enhance safety at the intersection • Reconstruction to allow right in and right out turning movements only • Need • To reduce number and types of vehicular collisions occurring at intersection • Eastbound (EB) traffic making left turns from Fruitwood Lane to go heading north on SR 261 • Northbound (NB) traffic turning west onto Fruitwood Lane

Intersection Improvement • Existing median to be reconstructed • Straightened and extended through intersection (north on SR 261 through Fruitwood Lane intersection) • Fruitwood Lane intersection will be right-in and right-out access only • Median reconstruction will add additional storage at the signal for SR 66/SR 261 vehicles waiting to turn left from SR 261 onto SR 66 • Signage will also be added enhance driver awareness of traffic pattern

  9. Alternatives Considered • Traffic Signal- was not feasible due to proximity of the SR 66 and SR 261 intersection • Do Nothing - used a baseline for comparison • Includes routine maintenance of intersection • Not feasible; does not enhance safety

  13. Maintenance of Traffic • The maintenance of traffic for this project will be completed under phased construction with lane restrictions.

  14. Construction Schedule April 2019 letting Summer 2019 construction October 2019 completion anticipated
