Taiwan: the Technology Gateway to Greater China • in the year 2000, China has surpassed Taiwan as the third largest IT product export nation in the world, but … • close to two thirds (64 percent) of these exports were made by Taiwan companies’ factories in Mainland China …all other foreign companies (American, Japanese, Korean …) and Mainland Chinese firms combined to make up the remaining 36 percent • for the foreseeable future (5 to 10 years), Taiwan will be the technology and strategy center of high technology in the Greater China Region
