ana mechanisms
ANA Mechanisms
  • Database
    • ANA database is an Excel Spreadsheet made available as a contribution
  • Administrator
    • Chair appoints the ANA who administers the ANA database
  • Mechanism for requesting numbers
  • Mechanism for adding a new resource

Terry Cole, AMD

requesting allocation
Requesting Allocation
  • Request is made
    • By an editor on behalf of a TG, by way of editor’s reflector, editor’s meetings, or telecons
    • By a TG or the WG, by way of a motion
    • Outside body such as 802.15.2 would make a request by asking the WG chair to sponsor the motion to request
    • Request may ask for a specific number
      • Not necessarily be honored by the ANA

Terry Cole, AMD

request allocation continued
Request Allocation (Continued)
  • Conflicts are checked by ANA
    • Last item of any resource will never be assigned – always automatically designated “escape bit/number”
    • ANA is responsible for bringing exhaustion of any resource to the attention of the immediately following WG plenary session
  • Response will be made
    • Response to reqeuster and editor’s reflector
    • Indicating assigned number(s)
    • Sent to the editor’s reflector for inclusion in the next applicable draft(s)

Terry Cole, AMD

revoking allocations
Revoking Allocations
  • Owner (recorded in ANA database) of an assigned number may request revocation
    • TG or WG by motion
    • TG Editor by email to editor’s reflector
    • Request made in same way as for assignment, but may only by the owner of the assigned number (or a higher level body which has authority for the owner).

Terry Cole, AMD

adding resources
Adding Resources
  • Assigned resources are shown each on a different tab of the ANA
  • Additional resources may be added by a request to the ANA.
  • Resource additions will be announced to the editor’s reflector.
