  2. Bronze Basin • Two occasions of washing at the Basin • Total, all over washing at initial consecration of any priestExodus 29:4 • Hands & feet every time priest went into the tabernacle tent. Exodus 30:19-21

  3. What does it mean to me? • We are all priests, with Jesus as our High Priest.

  4. ‘You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.’ 1 Peter 2:5 & 9

  5. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” Revelation 5:10

  6. What does it mean to me? • We are all priests, with Jesus as our High Priest. • Our prime function is therefore to operate as priests! • Let’s look at how the similarities work out: • Priest washed once for all at initiation - so are we.Titus 3:5

  7. ‘He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit’Titus 3:5

What does it mean to me? • We are all priests, with Jesus as our High Priest. • Our prime function is therefore to operate as priests! • Let’s look at how the similarities work out: • Priest washed once for all at initiation - so are we.Titus 3:5 • But we still need to have daily grime of sin washed off regularly! John 13:10

  9. “A person who has had a bath needs only to wash his feet; his whole body is clean.”John 13:10

What does it mean to me? • We are all priests, with Jesus as our High Priest. • Our prime function is therefore to operate as priests! • Let’s look at how the similarities work out: • Priest washed once for all at initiation - so are we.Titus 3:5 • But we still need to have daily grime of sin washed off regularly! John 13:10 • The crisis of conversion leads on to the process of change – 2 Corinthians 3:18

  11. ‘And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.’ 2 Corinthians 3:18

  12. The Basin is a ‘type’ of the Bible Cf: Ephesians 5:26-27; John 15:3

  13. Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. Ephesians 5:26-27

  14. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you! John 15:3

  15. The Basin is a ‘type’ of the Bible Ephesians 5:26-27; John 15:3 The Bible ‘washes’ us as it: • Helps us fight the enemy  - Ephesians 6:17

  16. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.Ephesians 6:17

  18. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18.

  20. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16
