  6. Do you enjoy listening to buskers? YES! Why… a: you enjoy their music? b: you have a lot of spare time? c: you know them personally and you are there for support? d: other?

  7. Do you enjoy listening to buskers? NO! Why… a: you find them distracting? b:you’re in a rush? c:you don’t like their music? d: other?

  8. Do you ever give money to buskers? YES! Why… a: you like their music? b: you have a lot of spare change? c: you feel sorry for them? d: other?

  9. Do you ever give money to buskers? NO! Why… a: you don’t feel obliged? b: you think they’re ripping you off? c: you don’t like their music? d: other?

  10. Interviews We interviewed three buskers while we were in the city. Our aim was to find out how much they earned in a day, in change, and also by selling their cd’s, artwork, etc… and how they did it, to give us a general idea of how they sustain themselves.

  12. 1st interview Q1: do you earn more than $70 a day? yes Q2: do you spend the whole day busking? an average working day, from about 11am-5pm Q3: do you busk for a living or for leisure? for a living Q4: what difficulties do you face busking? the weather is a big problem Q5: what is the average amount of money you earn a day? anything between $200-$400, from selling cd’s not so much from the coinage.

  13. 2nd interview Q1: do you earn more than $70 a day? nope Q2: do you spend the whole day busking? no, at the moment we are still waiting for our permit Q3: do you busk for a living or for leisure? both, but at the moment, for a living Q4: what difficulties do you face busking? we have a broken amp, so mostly just our instruments Q5: what is the average amount of money you earn a day? We used to earn from $80-$100, but now we are earning zero.

  14. 3rd interview Q1: do you earn more than $70 a day? yes, it varies Q2: do you spend the whole day busking? no, a few hours usually. it gets pretty exhausting Q3: do you busk for a living or for leisure? half and half, I also do a few gigs Q4: what difficulties do you face busking? my equipment Q5: what is the average amount of money you earn a day? $50-$200
