  2. Terminal Objectives • To introduce Education Professionals to the topic of Teacher Leadership. • To experience a collaborative decision making simulation associated with this topic.

  3. Enabling Objectives • Students will play the Teacher Leadership Challenge Game. • Students will discuss and reflect on this experience.

  4. Teacher Leadership • Teachers are in the best position to make critical decisions about Curriculum and Instruction. • Career objective shifts from making a difference in students’ lives to teacher collaboration to promote professional development and improvement of educational services (Troen and Boles 1992).

  5. Transformative Leadership • Experienced Teachers rely on influence not formal power structure to lead (Katzenmeyer 1996). • Four elements • Supportive school environment. • Personal Assessment – bringing unique skills to each leadership opportunity. • Generate diverse strategies for influencing others. • Plans for action. Needs collaboration in collegial environment.

  6. Decision Making Approaches • Will see four (4) examples in The Leadership Challenge Game. They are: • Informal Approach • Formal Approach • Informal Research • Formal Research Let’s play the Teacher Leadership Challenge Game!
