1. Plants gather the sun’s energy with light-absorbing molecules called pigments.

2. Inside of chloroplasts the main pigment that is used is called chlorophyll.

  • 3. Chlorophyll is the part of the plant that gives plants their green color. Chlorophyll absorbs blue, violet, and red light, but reflects green light.
    • This is why plants are green.
  • Carotenereflects orange light.

Water then travels to each cell through a process known as OSMOSIS.

Stomata are the little “holes” on a plant leaf that regulates the gas exchange in plants.

Carbon dioxide then travels to each cell through a process known as Diffusion.
