William George Barker(Billy Barker) • Born November 3rd 1894 Dauphin Manitoba • Died March 12th 1930 (age 35) from being and alcoholic • Rank in the RFC/RAF Lieutenant Colonel • Rank in the RCAF Wing Commander • Official record of 1 captured with 9 balloons (7 of them shared), 35 (2 shared) aircraft, and finished off 5 out of control aircraft He won the following medals: Victoria CrossDistinguished Service Order & BarMilitary Cross & Two BarsMentioned in Despatches (three times)Croix de Guerre (France)Two Silver Medal of Military Valor (Italy).

  5. Wilfrid Reid May(Wop May) • Born April 20th 1896 Carberry Manitoba • Died June 21st 1952 (age 56) American Fork, Utah • Rank in the RCAF Captain • Served in 1916-1918 • Only won the Distinguished flying cross • Was the last pilot to be perused by the Red Baron and to live.

  6. The Beginning of Aerial Combat The beginning of air combat was when pilots were done with enemy recon planes flying around them and decided to take a weapon on board.
