  3. Why is the Lynx Spider Green? • Hunts insects • Specialized for living on plants • Does not spider use web to catch prey • Camouflage • Wait & Pounce

  4. Characteristics • Color – bright green • Size - ¾ inch long • Shape – Oval abdomen with long spiny legs • Diurnal - daytime activity • 8 eyes – 4 on face, 2 on side, 2 on top • Only spider to spray venom from its fangs • Injects venom up to ¾ inch in multiple directions • Male is smaller

Feeding & Benefits • Feed on many insects including the common houseflies, honey bees and crop pests • Little danger to humans – bite will cause pain or swelling but no tissue damage, systematic aftereffects or death • There are 35,000 species of spiders • The Green Lynx helps keep the insect population under control • Birds eat spiders
