Phishing attacks, malware, spyware, adware and all sorts of malware learned how to bypass your average antivirus. 1. Five Tips for Spyware and Virus Removal from Your Business Machines

  2. Regardless of many preventive steps, from written internet user policies to automated scans and gateway protections, spyware, malware and virus threats sneak through multilayered defenses to our PCs, laptops and workstations. Even though we understand the seriousness of these threats, many of us still aren’t willing to invest in anti-spyware software. As for solution, some of us simply wipe out systems and reinstallation the Windows, while others just give up letting the bad guys to win. Here are some safety measures that we find most effective for virus removal from your business machines. Isolate the Drive You probably don’t know, but many root kit and Trojan threats are masters of disguise that hide from the operating system as soon as your Windows starts. Even some best antivirus and antispyware tools struggle to remove such infections. Pull the hard disk from the offending system and fix it to the dedicated test machine, and run multiple spyware and virus removal scans against the slave drive.

  3. Remove Temp. Files • While the drive is still slaved, browse to all users temporary files. These types of files are typically found within the C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temp directory within Windows XP or the C:\Users\Username\App Data\Local\Temp folder within Windows Vista. Delete everything within the temporary folders. • Return the Drive and Repeat the Scan Process • First run a complete antivirus scan and then execute two full antispyware scans with recently updated anti-spyware applications. Return the hard disc to the system and run the same scan once more. • Test the System • Now boot your system, open the web browser and delete all offline files and cookies. Then, go to the Internet Explorer Connection settings to confirm that a malicious program didn’t change a system default proxy and LAN connection settings. Visit some random websites and look for any redirected web searches, hijacked home pages, popup windows and other issues.

  4. Check for Remaining Infections Use utilities such as Microsoft's Process Explorer, Trend Micro's HijackThis and Windows' native Microsoft System Configuration Utility to locate remaining offending process. After these 5 steps, if a system still proves corrupt or unusable, then it’s time for you to take help from IT consultants and their virus removal services.
