  1. Are Face Masks Fogging Your Glasses? Consider LASIK. Wearing a face mask make my glasses foggy. What can I do? In an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19, masks are considered to be a great tool and we all have to adjust to wearing face masks in public spaces. But for the spectacled people wearing these protective face masks create an annoying phenomenon: foggy glasses. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when it is suggested to avoid touching your face in public, masks fogging your glasses is definitely a problem. Even contact lens are drying out from all the extra Zoom meetings while working from home which makes people fed up and thus increased the demand for the corrective eye surgery. Why Do Face Masks Make Glasses Foggy? While wearing face masks, the warm air from our mouth escapes and comes in contact with our lenses. This makes condensation on the surface of the lenses, thus causing them to fog up. It disrupts your vision and requires you to continually adjust your glasses or mask. How Can I Stop Fogging Glasses When I Wear My Mask? Surprisingly, there are various ways floating around the internet that can minimize the amount of warm air escaping from the mask. Some sound crazy than others but the best solution to eliminate face mask eyeglass fog forever is LASIK. Here’s what we found:- 1. Wash the glasses in soapy water- A study from The Royal College of Surgeons of England recommends that to minimize glasses fog, one should wash lenses with soapy water. Cleaning the lenses with soapy water leaves a thin layer of a soap film which reduces surface tension and allows water molecules to form a transparent layer. But be cautious while trying this method as leaving “a thin layer of soap film” on glasses sounds streaky and also avoids products like soap or shampoo, which can damage lenses. 2. Seal the mask to your face - Use a piece of double-sided tape or an adhesive bandage across the bridge of the nose before putting on a mask. The hope is that the tape will create a better seal and help to prevent the hot air to reach the lens, but this may irritate the skin.

  2. 3. Adjust the fit of your face mask – For glasses-wearers, the problem of fogging is due to the warm air we exhale is being directed upward. By adjusting the mask’s straps, you can make the mask fit more tightly around the nose and reduce fogging. 4. Breathe downward – This might sound awkward and can be a quick anti-fog fix. But how do you breathe downward? This is done by holding your upper lip over your lower lip and then blow air downward, just like as if you’re playing the flute. Do not recommend it. 5. Contact Lenses- This may seem like an attractive option but the American Academy of Ophthalmology does not recommend wearing contact lenses during COVID-19. The reason being the contact lens wearers touch their eyes and face much more than the average person, thus increasing the risk of contracting coronavirus. What if these above tips don’t work? ➢Consider LASIK and get rid of the foggy glasses with just one simple procedure. LASIK has been around for over 25 years, with satisfaction rates over 97%. Laser eye surgery is safer than contact lenses, no dryness, saves money, and reduces enticement to touch or rub the eyes and face throughout the day, giving clear vision.
