Background: The Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation (IndyGo) applied for one-time Federal funding to demonstrate the value of a commuter express service in the Central Indiana region. While IndyGo operates the ICE Routes, funding is completely covered by the grant and ridership revenue.

    6. ,dknfvijsf Three ICE Routes were launched: Fishers, Carmel and Greenwood With the early discontinuation of the Greenwood Route due to low ridership, those funds extended the operating time of the Fishers and Carmel Routes Exhausted funding in December 2010 will result in the discontinuation of the remaining demonstration services in Fishers and Carmel

    13. ,dknfvijsf Service Adjustments: 2008: Added service to Fishers ICE to accommodate increased ridership due to gas spike 2009: Fare increase; reduced ridership 2009: Early termination of Greenwood ICE 2009: Announced new stops in proximity to Clarian People Mover and Methodist Hospital 2009: Adjusted time points to better serve ridership

About CIRTA: The Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority is dedicated to bringing more transportation options that will better connect the urban core of Indianapolis with Marion, Hamilton, Hancock, Shelby, Johnson, Morgan, Hendricks, Boone, Delaware and Madison Counties. CIRTA, with assistance from IndyGo, is looking at other avenues—and exhausting all possible options—in an attempt to sustain the ICE service.

Building on decades of research and the recommendations of a private-sector led task force, Indy Connect seeks to engage the public in shaping a regional transportation system that will benefit all Central Indiana communities. Express bus service is a key component of Indy Connect.
