Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act - MAP-21 • Started Oct. 1, 2012 – 2 Years • Funding Continues (at about $40 Billion annually) • Fewer Categories/More Flexible to States • Establishes a Performance-Based Program • Accelerates project delivery and promotes innovation • Freight Policy/Highway Freight Network • Supports Aggressive Safety Programs

  4. Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) • $500 million Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) Discretionary Grant Program FY 2012 • 2012 – 47 Projects in 34 States • www.dot.gov/tiger

Intercity Passenger Rail Investments • Investing in improved equipment and track through State DOTs • Testing higher speeds (111 MPH in Ill./160MPH ACELA) • 154 different projects are addressing all aspects of rail development from laying and upgrading track to eliminating bottlenecks, developing stations, and planning for future construction.

Every Day Counts Initiative • The EDC initiative supports the implementation of planning, permitting, design, and construction innovations that have a demonstrated ability to build highway and bridge projects faster. • Better, Faster, and Smarter Project Delivery • Prefabricated Bridge Elements and Systems • innovative construction management techniques • Streamlined Planning/Environmental Process • Regional Summits – EDC II
