A ‘core’ research methods subjectBIOM40001 - Introduction to Biomedical Science(some Departments offer alternative ‘Methodology’ subjects) • Contemporary process of biomedical investigation • Real hypotheses, data management, analysis & present’n • Data ‘case studies’, software skills, publication process • Ethics: IP, fraud, COI, integrity in research • 10 x 2hr tutorials over 2 weeks, 2 x assignments (<3000w)

Honours : Application Eligibility & Selection (HATS) • An undergraduate degree with major in Project relevant discipline area • A weighted average mark (WAM) of at least 65% for Y1-Y3 (H3 or equivalent) • English proficiency already satisfied, via undergrad course admission • Honours Application & Tracking System (HATS) preference system • selection coordinated via HATS & occurs at Departmental level

Honours : Application Step 1: Lodge an Application • for UoM students (Local or International), apply through student portal under ‘Admin’ tab • for non-UoM students: - Local: www.futurestudents.unimelb.edu.au/grad/apply/aust - Int: www.futurestudents.unimelb.edu.au/int/grad/how-to-apply Step 2: Submit Project Preference via HATS • Applying for Honours will: - generate your student number - HATS password • lodge Project preferences through HATS • HATS passwords: - sent by email to ‘unimelb’ address and by text weekly basis - thus may need to wait up to 1 week to receive password
