  2. Planning Goals • To find a way to provide effective instruction of both didactic material and practical skill sets in a non-traditional manner.

  3. Planning Goals • To find a delivery method that will make the program available to potential patrollers who cannot attend a traditional course because of schedules or distance.

  4. Provide yet another method for OEC Instructors to use their skills more than just at traditional OEC courses and annual refreshers. • E-Course is NOT a replacement for the traditional OEC course. • E-Course is NOT a for everyone. • E-Course is in fact a more difficult and time consuming method of delivery.

  5. Didactic more difficult and time consuming for Students and Staff • Students • Read Text, Fill out work book, and complete online assignments • Staff • Read, evaluate, and provide feedback for lessons returned by email. • Remote management of progress

  6. Practical skill sets more difficult and time consuming or Students and Staff • Students • Work with Mentor to develop skills • Staff • More staff because of one on one mentor to student ratio • Will need to recruit others for some skill sets • Management of Mentors

  7. Course requires – • Course registration • Course materials • Instructor of Record • Course Coordinator • Mentor Coordinator (optional) • A Mentor for every participate • A minimum of 4 practical sessions • Participation of Patrol Representatives • Supplemental Evaluation

Use current OEC text and workbook • Additional Chapter by Chapter evaluation tools to ensure student understanding and learning of didactic information developed by team. • Use other online sources of information to enhance current OEC content and practical skills. • Use Material on OEC Web Site and OEC Zone.
