  2. Editorial- My thoughts on Hippie culture • The hippie culture was a youth movement that began in the United States during the Mid-1960s. They listened to psychedelic rock and some used heavy drugs. They had a major effect on culture. They influenced popular music and television.

  3. U.S. President in 1964 • -Lyndon B. Johnson By 1968, the United States had 548,000 troops in Vietnam and had already lost 30,000 Americans there. Johnson's approval ratings had dropped from 70 percent in mid-1965 to below 40 percent by 1967, and with it, his mastery of Congress. One of Johnson's major problems was that Hanoi was willing to accept the costs of continuing the war indefinitely and of absorbing the punishing bombing. It would do so until the United States decided to give up its commitment to aid the South. McNamara and his "war game" analysts in the Department of Defense failed to account adequately for this eventuality.

  4. Sports Figure in 1964 • Jim Ronald Ryun is an American former track athlete and politician, who was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from 1996 to 2007, representing the 2nd District in Kansas. Years prior to his political career, Ryun had an athletic career that saw him become a world-class runner and the last American to hold the world record in the mile run. His career was highlighted by many world record times and a silver medal in the 1500m at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. • Quote- “Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.” ― Jim Ryun
